The General Relief Society Meeting
Last night my mom and I went over to watch General Conference with my Grandma at The Coventry.
I have been looking forward to spending the evening with my grandma and mom all week.
The meeting was beautiful and I felt of the Lord's love and recognition of me so strong during the entire meeting.
I was so excited when I woke up this morning and saw that the meeting has already been published to the church's website. If you're like me and want to watch this meeting again to reflect on the notes you took, here it is....!
Wednesday night for "couple scripture study" Andrew and I decided to learn more about King Benjamin and the "General Conference" he held with his people. The conversation we had on the topic were quite inspiring, but the thing I want to share with all of you was the list we made for the upcoming General Conference (next weekend).
Andrew and I have decided to so something different this session. Instead of writing down all of the catchy quotes and inspiring sayings (like we both normally do) we have decided to write down what we feel when the catchy quote is being said or the inspiring saying is being delivered. We have decided to do this because we want to remember what touched us when the prophets and apostles were speaking to each one of us individually.
Andrew and I love to read the Conference talks when they are published in the Ensign and when they become available on line..... this way- as we are reading the talks for the 2nd or 3rd time- we can remember what touched us the very first time.
Spending the evening with my Grandmother was very humbling. As the meeting began, she quietly pulled out her notebook and titled a fresh page "General Relief Society Meeting 2011." Through out the meeting she listened and took notes on items that were of interest to her. She sang the song with the same voice she has been singing the same hymns with for over 80 years.
By watching my grandmother's example of dedication to the Lord, I clearly saw what I would be doing for the rest of my life. There is no "graduation" from callings in the church or exceptions to meeting I need to watch or attend.
One day I will be sitting in my rocker at the Coventry with my grandchildren, and children gathered around me and we will be attentively listening to the modern day Prophets willing to do what every we are asked.
Thanks mom for putting together such a memorable event, and thank you Grandma for always beng my greatest example of true dedication to the Lord, and what it means to endure to the end.

Top-It
Last night we went to Top-It with Mom and Dad Timmins (Bryan and Rebecca). This was our reward for being diligent and hard workers at the Cabin this past week, helping clean up large amounts of garbage, yard waste, and rocks. There was enough garbage to fill multiple pickup trucks all the way to the height of the cab. Oh wait...that's right...we didn't actually help with the Cabin cleanup, but we still got the reward dessert!
One of the highlights of our Top-It trip was the photographer who took the above picture of us. It is always amazing how nervous and cloudy-eyed some people become (mostly older-ish people) when you ask them to take a picture and then hand them an iPhone. Beads of sweat begin to form on their foreheads, they ask which button they 'push' on the touch screen multiple times, and they look back at their group of friends with trepidation wondering, "out of all of us, why me?" Additionally, they share every excuse as to why they will not be capable of taking a good picture and why the picture may turn out lousy right when they are taking the picture, usually accompanied by nervous laughter. Why not do what the lady at Kiddie Kandid's does and make a funny face and tell us to say 'CHEESE?' Or wave a fuzzy stuffed teddy bear or squeeze a squeaky child's toy and make choochie-coo noises. I don't know about Robyn, but I would love that kind of photography prowess displayed at Top-It on a random Thursday night using an iPhone.
But, in all honesty, our photographer did a masterful job of capturing the special moment we shared with Mom and Dad Timmins. Our photographer even helped us position ourselves away from the window behind us as to assure a more clear and better lit photo. Thanks photo lady.
Such a special blog post would not be complete if it did not include a classic RobAndrew pose. To all of you who have waited far too long for such a pose, you're welcome. And Robyn only added to the excitement of the occasion by sporting her chic headband. Or as Dad Timmins called her, a gypsy.
I remembered to get a picture of the frozen yogurt and toppings, the purpose of our Top-It trip, just a Robyn was about to finish. So you should be jealous not of our full cups of frozen, tangy yogurt topped with fresh coconut, juicy fruit, delectable chocolate, and whatever candies your imagination can imagine, but be jealous of these last two-and-a-half bites of melted yogurt, soggy cookie dough, and whatever those ball shaped things are. Be very jealous.
Oh, and a special shout-out to the Daily Skweez texts for the buy-one-get-one!
