Sitting on the Bonham's

To clarify, we didn't actually sit on the Bonham's.  We babysat them a few weeks ago.  Emily and Brandon went out of town on a Jeep adventure and Robyn and I had the privilege to watch Ellie, Janie, Josh, and Becca for 4 days.

The kids absolutely love and worship Robyn, and since I am lucky enough to be her husband, they like me also.  Babysitting was challenging and fun; definitely a good dose of live birth control for Robyn and me.  We stayed overnight each night, playing mom and dad.  We did everything from doing homework, making lunches, driving to and from dance lessons, attending soccer and football games, reading stories and scriptures, saying prayers, fixing meals, watching Ice Age and Free Willy, and a little disciplining when needed.  Robyn and I absolutely loved every minute.  And yes, Robyn made sure that all our interactions were 'developmentally appropriate.'

We had the privilege of watching the BYU-Utah football game at the Bonham's.  Their entire family are BYU fans (Brandon and Emily met at BYU), while Robyn and I are both Utah fans (we met at the U).  I wore my red Utah shirt all day long just to bother Josh, Becca, and Janie.  In gentle retaliation, Josh sported his BYU jersey all day.  And Becca wore BYU colors to the birthday party she attended.  It was great fun and a great rivalry.

Although BYU came up well short of playing a competitive game, the Bonham's are still die-hard Y fans.  Their sidewalk-chalk drawings and welcome home signs for their parents attest to the same.

Hannah and Macy

Today and tomorrow I am tending my cousins Hannah and Macy while their siblings are at school.  Their parents (Megan and Scott) are off soaking up the sun in Lake Powell... lucky.

This morning for breakfast Macy (age 1.5) had cereal, yogurt and a yogurt drink.  Very normal.... but next to Macy, Hannah (age3) was already on to lunch.  You see it was 9:30 am and Hannah had breakfast at least three hours ago; needless to say, she was very hungry.

She had a normal lunch... except that she was eating it so early in the morning.  It was making my stomach churn.  She had Top Ramen Noodles, and pickles... lots and lots of them.  The smell of the pickles mixing with my yogurt, banana breakfast is still making me slightly sick.

Before Macy woke up Hannah and i made many different sculptures out of Play-doh.  I wish I brought my camera to show off our creations.  We made a hot air balloon, a dog, eggs, a balloons, house, cat, and many shapes.  

By 10:00 the most exciting thing that happened was Macy standing at the top of the stairs and throwing down her "pretend" plates onto the hardwood floor.  .... the only problem was that her pretend plates were made of glass. Good thing I caught her after her first toss.  That could have taken sometime to clean up :)

A weekend with Carmen and David!

This weekend Mom and Dad went to San Francisco to visit Lauren and Nathan, (later to find out that Nathan would be out of town for the majority of the weekend).

While they were gone Mom and Dad enlisted us to take care of the crew... and let me tell you they are a hand full ;)

Carmen can drive now and david can make really tasty protein shakes; so basically they're set!

Andrew and I were brought in to be the ENTERTAINER for the weekend essentially. Incase you didn't know, we are very good at this.

Mom and Dad left late Wednesday afternoon. For dinner mom left us a piping pan full of stew- a tradition from since before I can remember. Thanks mom!

That night Andrew challenged David to a chipping contest in the backyard. Last weekend they had a putting and chipping contest; Andrew won the putting contest and David won the chipping. Since the score was tied, Andrew decided it was time to declare the ultimate golfer.

Carmen and I attended to make sure all rules were followed and there was sportsman like conduct between the two of them.

Well... actually we both just wanted an excuse to not be doing homework :)

Thursday was David's first day of school at Carden!

For breakfast he decided he wanted to eat "puff puff"... a perfect start to another year of school. I made the "puff puff" (German Pancakes) while Andrew headed up scripture study at 6:25 am on the dot (well okay maybe more like 6:32). Mom also bought us all sorts of delicious fresh fruit so Carmen and David also had strawberries and peaches respectively.

Making lunches was fun. I made one for Carmen, David, and Andrew :)

Thursday night Andrew had to work late and Carmen had "Burning of the B" so David and I kicked it. And what better way to do so then by watching a football game. We also made stovetop popcorn (Thanks Quinns!).

Friday Carmen decided on crepes for breakfast so I wripped them up while Andrew lead scripture study.

Friday after school we all went to see "The Help." If you haven't seen this yet/read the book.... you need too. Not one of us sat thrugh this movie with a dry eye. It will chang your're whole pespective.

That night we made peanut butter ice cream (Andrew and mine's new FAVORITE.) It was so tasty and fun to share that experience with Carmen and David.

Saturday monring Andrew got upearly and began a practice GMAT test. Carmen and David were dutiful in completing their Saturday jobs (woot woot) and we all decided Cinamon Rolls sounded good for breakfast.

Andrew and David went golfing in the afternoon while Carmen had her "day activity" for Homecomming and then we spend the rest of the afternoon getting her all dolled up for the dance.

Andrew and I were asked to take some picture of the group. I think they all look very nice.... but of course Carmen's look was my favorite :)

It was a very fun weekend full of laughs and memories. Hopefully mom and dad go out of town again soon we can do it again! :)
